WORLDLINESS IN HAIR- DO'S: DYEING OF THE HAIR

The hair on the head is a source of temptation to many Christians. Self display for beauty and glory may suggest tempering with the natural condition of the hair.
Many dye their hair to give it the colour and appearance they desire. Some do so to cover the grey or white hair on their head to conceal their old age.
Those who do this desire to look young all the time. The believer must overcome the temptation of changing the truth of God into a lie. We must not lie against the truth.
Romans 1:25a: “Who changed the truth of God into a lie”
James 3:14b: “And lie not against the truth.”
The believer must maintain a pure and undefiled heart before God. To apply dye to the hair for hair beauty and attraction is evil and indicates an impure heart. The holy Christian trembles at God's word.
Matthew 5:36: “Neither shall thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.”
Only God can make the hair white or black. Through the use of cosmetics or dye people are challenging the above scripture. But the scripture cannot be broken.
Those who attempt to do so will fall by it. If there is dandruff or skin disease on the head, this can be treated appropriately. But to apply cosmetics or dye on the hair for hair beauty and attraction is worldliness and ungodliness. God made grey or white hair to grow on the head for a purpose.
A look at the scriptures will reveal the importance of white hair on the head.White Hair Announces The Faithfulness Of God In Preservation
Isaiah 46:4: “And even to your old age I am He; and even to your hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
White hair on the head of an old man or woman shows the faithfulness of God in preserving life to old age. The white hair shows forth the praise of God in this regard.
To cover up the white hair through the use of dye is to cover up that which bears testimony to God's faithfulness and gives praise to Him in old people.
White Hair Is An Emblem Of Honour To The Aged
Proverbs 16:31: “The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.”
Proverbs 20:29: “The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.”
Leviticus 19:32: “Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.”
White hair on the head of the aged is an emblem of honour to him. That which the Scripture says is glory and beauty should not
be seen as a shame that requires covering up with dye.
The Lord commands the younger ones to honour the aged. These are often identified by white or grey hair on their head. When an aged person covers up the white hair through the use of dye, the younger ones may not identify him or her and so may not accord him the honour the Lord commanded. He or she is responsible for the offence of the younger ones against God. Let the natural hair of the believer, young or old, be maintained in its natural condition.
Nothing artificial should come on it. The believer must not follow the fashions of the world.
