PAINTING AND MAKE-UP
Jeremiah 4:30: “And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.”
Painting of the face has been an old practice. The above scripture reveals that people paint their face so that they may appear beautiful. As we can see in our society today, the parts of the body painted are:
(i) The face
(ii) The eye brows
(iii) The eye lids
(iv) The lips
(v) The nails
(i) The face

(iii) The eye lids
(iv) The lips
(v) The nails
The items used for painting these body parts are powder, eye pencil, cortex, lipsticks. Some wear artificial nails and eye lids which are already painted.
The Bible gave us account of a woman who indulged in these things. Her name was Jezebel. She was greatly idolatrous and wicked and was cursed by God.
2 Kings 9:30, 35-37: “And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at the window. And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which He spake by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel: And the carcass of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.”
Makeup has been an identification mark of prostitutes down the ages.
Proverbs 7:10-12: “And, behold, there met him a woman with an attire of an harlot, and subtle of heart. She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: Now is she without, now in the street, and lieth in wait at every corner.”
Quite unfortunately Christian women have come into this ungodly practice to their damnation in hell. Painful still, that ministers of the gospel see these evils penetrating into the Church of Christ and are either silent or justify this lewd adornment in the house of the living God.
Isaiah 30:8-11: “Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: That this is a rebellious people, lying children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seer, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.”
Revelation On Painting, Make-up
Lest anyone may say she is not clear with Bible position on these evils, the Lord, in our day, has given divine revelations to some of His chosen servants and they have come to reveal that the chemicals used to manufacture these things are made of human fats and human blood, that cortex and lipsticks are human blood made to assume various colour for human use.
To paint the eyes, lips, and the nails with human blood and appear before God for prayer and worship, is an abuse to His holy nature. Of course, that is what Satan wants to achieve through man. One may argue that not all of these make-up materials are made of human blood. This may be true, but one cannot distinguish between the one made from blood and the one made from other chemicals in the market.
Their use is condemned as worldliness by the scriptures. What a great disfigurement painting gives to the woman's face! The voice of the scriptures is clear against these evils.
Isaiah 59:1-5: Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.”
Isaiah 1:15-20: “And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.”
Make-up is applied on the body for the purpose of charming beauty and attraction. But the Bible warns against this ungodly practice and warns men against these wayward women.
Proverbs 5: 3-4: “For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil. But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Proverbs 6:25: “Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelid.”
The beauty you gain from make-up is not true beauty. No saint will delight to see a woman in make-up. This painting of various parts of the face and of the nails makes a woman appear distorted and unclean, not only in the sight of God but also in the sight of true men.
Repent of these things and allow your face to be natural that the glory of the Lord may cover you.
Revelation 22:14-16: “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
