The hair is subjected to different kinds of hair-do's that are called by many names. The world will keep bringing up new hair dressing fashions to meet the taste of the ungodly, until the Lord comes. Believers who desire to live holy and undefiled life must avoid all kinds of worldliness in their hair-do's
PERMING AND JERRY CURLING OF HAIR
This is generally known as frying of the hair.
Perming and jerry curling of the hair came into prominence in the mid 1980's and were then the exclusives of prostitutes and wayward women.
Christian women avoided these and considered them as ungodly hair-do's. Preachers knew that they were evil and worldly.
As years advanced and the number of women who permed and jerry curled their hair rapidly increased, Christian women started adopting these hair-dos, with less resistance from the Church.Today, perming and jerry curling of the hair are not only condoned, but accepted and even encouraged by some churches.
There are churches today where both men and women perm and jerry curl their hair. Perming and jerry curling of the hair are a common practice with the blacks that live among the whites or races with curled and flowing hairs. The black women among them practice these in order not to look different or inferior.
The scripture reveals that perming and jerry curling of the hair are sins before God and damn the soul to everlasting hell. Many engage in these evils ignorantly, but that does not exempt them from the judgment of God.
Zephaniah 1:8: “And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.”
The Sin in Perming and Jerry Curling of Hair
Let those who are interested in inheriting eternal life pay diligent attention to the word of God. It is clear that not all who are in the church as members or ministers desire to go to heaven, hence not all bother about the detail teaching or instruction of God's word.
Philippians 3:18,19: “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.”
Psalm 119:1-6: “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are they that keep His testimonies, and that seek Him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in His ways. Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. O that my ways were directed to keep thy statues! Then shall I not be ashamed when I have respect unto all thy commandments.”
The scriptures clearly show the sin in perming and jerry curling of the hair. Those who care for their eternal souls will take heed to the warning of the Holy Scriptures.
(i)Perming And Jerry Curl Tamper With God's Glory
God has made all things beautiful for Himself. His creative design on the people of every race and nation is the work of His glory. Hence, He is glorified in the hair nature of every race or nation in the earth. No hair nature is inferior to the other in His sight. In the mind of God, every race or nation is to look upon God's handiwork on the other and wonder, praise and glorify Him.
Isaiah 23:7: “Even every one that is called by My name: for I have created him for My glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.”
What destroys the glory of God in a person is sin. Perming and jerry curling of the hair temper with God's natural handiwork in a person's life, and so destroy God's glory. Those who practice these and those who own or work in the hair dressing saloons that carry out these are subject to divine wrath for sinfully tempering with God's natural handiwork in His creature.
(ii) Those Who Perm Or Jerry Curl Call Good Evil
God created all things by the word of His power, including the hair nature of every race or nation. Every word of God is pure. God sees those things He has created as very good and is fully satisfied with them.
Genesis 1:31: “And God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.”
The natural hair of no race or nation is sickness, deformity or eruption of misfortune, but something very good in the sight of God. What God calls good, the sinner calls evil.
This is what those who change their good natural hair through perming and jerry curl are doing. They despise their good natural hair and change it to another form. Those who do so carry woe upon themselves.
Isaiah 5:20: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
(iii) Those Who Perm And Jerry Curl Their Hair Are Liars
Parents know the natural hair of their children. The people in a community know that which is natural in those living or growing up among them. People of various races identify one another with God's peculiar handiwork in their body, which includes their hair nature.
The natural hair given by God to every race is in scripture called 'the truth of God'. Those who perm or jerry curl their hair “change the truth of God into a lie,” Romans 1:25a.
They are liars before God and man, because they are lying against the true nature of their hair. God hates lies and shall condemn liars to everlasting hell fire.
James 3:14b: “And lie not against the truth”.
Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
(iv) Perming And Jerry Curl Are Defilement To The Body
The Bible reveals that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us and that we are bought with a price and so should glorify God in our body.
We are warned against grieving the Holy Spirit, by Whom we are sealed till the day of redemption. Since perming and jerry curl tamper with God's natural and good handiwork in the body for sinful pleasure, they constitute defilement to it.
The Bible warns us against defiling our body, the temple of the Holy Spirit. Those that defile their body by these things shall be destroyed by God.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”
(v) Perming and Jerry Curling Are An Accusation Against God The Creator
The Bible reveals God as a faithful and an impartial Creator. He did not make one race superior or inferior to the other. He gave the same life, breath and blood quality to all races of people He has made.
Acts 17:25-26: “Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, seeing He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.”
By nature, all races are made equal before God, for all are the children of Adam. He knew from the beginning that there would be various races on earth and what their places of habitation, skin colour, and hair nature would be.
Science may have explanations for differences in the human race in colour, and hair nature, but the Scripture reveals that these things were determined by God and are for His pleasure.
Those who change their hair from that of their race to that of another race, are accusing God of inequality and partiality in creation. They are accusing God for making them inferior to others or of not giving them the right kind of hair. To accuse the all wise God this way is to suffer His displeasure.
(vi) Perming And Jerry Curl Are The Practice Of Men And Women Of Depraved Minds
Perming and Jerry curling of hair are evil things invented by the inspiration of Satan in these last days, in his drive to increasingly pollute mankind, defile believers and destroy their souls.
The hair of the head is a living thing that forms part of the living body. Those who do these things subject their hair to heat and chemicals which destroy the hair cells and change the hair from natural to that which is against nature.
This is a practice of those the Lord has given up to their vile affections.
Romans 1:26: “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature.”
Some men are into perming and jerry curl too. Some who do these claim to be Christians or even ministers. Such are in error and in darkness and have gone astray from the path of righteousness. If they do not repent they shall perish.
(vii) Perming And Jerry Curling Of Hair Are Worldliness
Those who practice these things are lovers of the world of sin and fashions and are the subjects of Satan. These things satisfy the desire to promote the glory of the flesh and are part of the manifestations of the pride of life.
Ephesians 2:2-3: “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience; Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the desires of flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.”
1 John 2:15-17: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.”
(viii) Self Imposed Inferiority Complex
Those who perm or jerry curl their hair by implication are saying that they are by nature inferior to the races with curled and flowing hair. The races with natural curled and flowing hair are made to feel superior and proud to their hurt, because God judges the proud. He that stirs his neighbour to pride shall suffer the same judgment.
(xi) Misleading Example
When a prominent Christian leader perms or jerry curls, many will follow his or her steps. Such is guilty of misleading example and shall account for the souls that stumble by his or her ungodly practice.
2 Peter 2:2: “And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.”
Effects of Perming And Jerry Curling of the Hair
The evil effects of perming and jerry curl include the following:
Those who indulge in these things discover that hair fall off from their head, resulting to baldness. This is both a natural cause of the chemicals and heat the head is subjected to regularly and the judgment of God.
Isaiah 3:23: “And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
We see also in this scripture that the quest for beauty and attraction leads some to the use of body perfume. They spray perfume on themselves because they desire to carry about sweet smell. This is inspired by the spirit of worldliness. Instead of the sweet smell, many carry about a stinking smell, as declared by the scripture, instead of sweet smell there shall be a stink
(ii) Enslavement
Romans 7:19-23: “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.”
Those who practise these things are enslaved by them. Even when they become convinced that these things are evil and see the evil effects on there body and in their life, they find themselves unable to detach from them.
They see themselves in the net of these evil adornments, awaiting their utter destruction. Their deliverance can only come through repentance and faith in Christ.
Romans 7:24-25: “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ my Lord.”
(iii) Hardness Of Heart
The demon spirits behind these evil adornments harden the hearts of many of their victims. Instead of confessing and repenting of their evil deeds, they are argumentative and resistant. Some seek cover under a misinterpreted scripture;
Satan is known for this.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4: “But if our gospel be hid, It is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
Revelation On Perming And Jerry Curling Of The Hair
God in His mercy has reiterated His voice against perming and jerry curling of hair in divine revelations given to many of His chosen servants.
Also many of those who were delivered from satanic kingdom testify against these things. Those who received divine revelation from God in our day and those who were delivered from the power of darkness both reveal the following.
I. Perming and jerry curling of hair are satanic inventions
II. Two essential ingredients used to manufacture the chemicals for perming and jerry curling are human blood and human fats.
III. Those who perm and jerry curl are defiled with the blood and fats of human beings and are defiled before God.
IV. Those who perm and jerry curl their hair are challenging God's mentality and personality. They are accusing God the Creator for improper judgment and imperfect creation.
V. Because of the properties employed in producing the cosmetics and chemicals used for these evil adornments, those who perm or jerry curl their hair are most often afflicted by demons.
VI. Those who perm or jerry curl their hair shall never enter into heaven, whatever their Christian position and service on earth.
Revelation 22:14-16: “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
Isaiah 1:16-20: “Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
I. Repent of these evil adornments. Clean yourself up and seek divine cleansing through faith on the Lord Jesus Christ. Do this without argument and without delay.
II. Baldness might have come upon your head or some other damage as a consequence; do not add sin to sin by using some unrighteous means for cover up. Bear theconsequence, where required. But bring your shame to Christ for His salvation, healing and wholeness.
III. Preach against perming and jerry curling of hair. Condemn them in the Church of Christ. Advice people against it and discourage or prevent your family members from these evil adornments.
If you abandon these evil adornments and walk with the Lord in righteousness and holiness, you will inherit everlasting life.
Ezekiel 18:27-28: “Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Because he considereth, and turneth away from histransgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.”
