ARE YOU OF THE LIGHT OR DARKNESS

Genesis 1:3-5
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

On the scripture above, God never defined darkness as good but He saw the light that it was good and divided it from darkness. This tells us that light is good and darkness is not and again, anything that is part of light and associated with light is good, and anything that is part of or connected and associated with darkness is not good.

The word divide means to separate or to distinguish. God divided (separated) light and dark. He split the two and said ‘light’ is on that side, ‘darkness’ is on the other side. He made a division between the light and the dark and He only defined one of them as good which is light.

He made a clear dividing line between what is light and what is dark, so that there would be no confusion. He did not leave them mixed or overlapping. This tells us how we should view spiritual light and spiritual darkness. God separated them and only classed light as good. This is amazing!! He then told us that He is light and  no darkness in Him.

1 John 1:5
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. This shows He does not cross over the separation line between the two but His one side that is LIGHT. This separation between light and dark is fundamental to Him and helps define what He does and what He does not do, what He is involved in and what He is not involved.

However, we as Christians we should draw a separation line between the two. This will define which Kingdom we represent. Matthew tells us that we are the Light of the world

Matthew 5:14
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden..................................

Ask yourself, what is light and what is darkness?

God will never get Himself involved with darkness and due to the stubbornness of the church, she has swapped the light for darkness.

Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

God uses the term WOE to mean those who swap light for darkness making them interchangeable( those who remove the dividing line that God placed between them).

God wants us to understand that light and dark do not go together and they cannot be switched nor substituted for each other. What is good is good, don’t call it evil, and what is bad is bad, don’t call it good. The same is so for darkness and light, don’t try to swap them around, and claim that God, who is light, does dark things. Light and dark do not mix, and God is light, so He does not mix with darkness.

Hallelujah!! Since God is light, then light and life are associated, they are partners and likewise darkness and death are associated. Darkness has partnered up with death. When we connect God to death, we are connecting Him to darkness. This is where we mess things up in our thinking.

Note: Light = Life = good
          Dark = Death = bad

John 1:4-5
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

The realm of light is the realm of life and the realm of darkness is the realm of death.

So, If we walk in the light, we will walk in life and therefore there is death in darkness. If we walk in darkness, we will walk in death. Since God divided the light from the darkness we need to do this within ourselves too.
We need to separate, divide and make a distinction between light and dark. He defines light as ‘good’, and then says that He is Light.

He clearly lets us know what is of darkness, and that darkness and death are associated. Anything of death is darkness and is not on the same side God is on.

He is the Healer – not the one who makes people sick

He is the Provider, not the one who makes people poor

He is the Savior, not the one who puts people into captivity

He is the Redeemer, not the One who enslaves people

So as a son/child of God, which side are you? Light or Darkness?
